SchoolWise User Guide › Attendance

Attendance

Mark students Present, Absent, or Late for any class and date — with one submit action for the whole class. Parents are automatically notified when their child is marked absent.

Marking daily attendance

Go to Attendance in the left sidebar. The page shows a date picker, class selector, and a student list below.

SchoolWise Mark Attendance page showing a date selector, Class and Section dropdowns, and a list of students each with Present, Absent, and Late radio buttons, and a Submit Attendance button at the bottom.
Select a date and class-section, mark each student, then click Submit.
  • 1 Select the Date you want to mark attendance for. It defaults to today.
  • 2 Choose the Class and Section from the dropdowns. The student list below updates automatically.
  • 3 For each student, select Present, Absent, or Late using the radio buttons on their row.
  • 4 Click Submit Attendance at the bottom. All selections are saved in one action.
✓ Present ✗ Absent ◷ Late

Editing attendance for a past date

If you need to correct attendance that was already submitted, simply select the date and class-section again. The previously saved selections will reload automatically. Make your changes and click Submit Attendance to overwrite the previous record.

Tip: The attendance page always reloads the existing record for the chosen date and class-section, so you'll never accidentally submit a blank form over a completed one.

Automatic absence notifications

When a student is marked Absent and you submit attendance, SchoolWise automatically sends an email notification to the parent's registered email address. The email includes the student's name, the date, and their class.

Note: Absence notifications only send if the parent email was filled in during enrolment. To check or update a parent's email, open the student's profile and click Edit Profile.

Viewing a student's attendance history

To see an individual student's full attendance record, open their profile (Students → View) and click the Attendance tab. A calendar shows every date colour-coded:

  • Green — Present
  • Red — Absent
  • Amber — Late

Each month shows the attendance percentage so you can quickly spot students with low attendance.

If the student list is empty

  • No students enrolled for that class-section — The class and section combination has no students yet. Enrol students under Students → Enrol Student and assign them to the correct class and section.
  • Wrong class or section selected — Double-check the dropdown values match the class you intend to mark.
